Chrome lets you create multiple profiles, each signed into a different Google account. Extensions like Contact Scout connect to whichever Google account is linked to your current profile.
How to check: Look at the top-right corner of your Chrome window, next to the three-dot menu. You'll see a small avatar or initial — that's your current profile. Click it to see which Google account is active or to switch profiles.
Why it matters: If you install Contact Scout in your work profile but want contacts saved to your personal Gmail, you'll need to switch profiles first. Each profile has its own set of extensions and Google account connection.
If you connect both a Google account and a Microsoft account, both connections live inside this profile.
Click the button below (or search "Contact Scout" in the Chrome Web Store). Click "Add to Chrome" and confirm when prompted. The extension icon will appear in your toolbar.
A welcome tab opens automatically. Read through the data practices, check the consent box, and click "I Agree — Continue". This is a one-time step required before Contact Scout can operate.
On the next screen, pick where you want contacts saved — Google Contacts or Microsoft Outlook. Click Connect on the card you choose. A sign-in window opens; sign in and approve. You'll see a green confirmation when it's done. You can connect both now or come back later.
You can skip this step and connect later, but you won't be able to save contacts until you do.
Go to any webpage with contact information. Highlight the text, then right-click and choose "Scout Text (AI)" from the menu. Contact Scout will extract the details, and you can review and save them to your address book.
You're not signed in to Chrome with the right account. For Google: go to Chrome Settings > You and Google. For Outlook: open Contact Scout Settings, click Connect on the Outlook card, and sign in.
You're likely in the wrong Chrome profile. Click the avatar in the top-right of Chrome to check which Google account is active. For Outlook, open Settings to see which Microsoft account is connected.
Each Chrome profile has its own extensions and Google account. If you need Contact Scout in a different profile, install it there separately by visiting the Chrome Web Store from that profile.
Check your internet connection and try again. If you're on a corporate network, VPNs or firewalls may block Google or Microsoft authentication. Try on a personal network.
Click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin Contact Scout so it's always visible. If you don't see it at all, try reloading the page.
Click the Contact Scout icon in your toolbar to see the popup. Hover over the colored dot for a description of the issue. Common fixes: reload the page, check your internet, or restart Chrome.
Microsoft tokens expire every 90 days. Open Contact Scout Settings, click Connect on the Outlook card, and sign in again.
